Mayor Terry Hoof has resigned, with his last day set for Friday, according to the Cullen mayor pro tem. The resignation comes as the town faces a severe financial crisis that has left police cars idle due to a lack of fuel and residents without water service.
Alderwoman Bianchi Veal said the town owes the IRS more than $90,000. When asked how the town mishandled its finances, Veal said it is a question she is still searching for answers to, adding that town hall has not been transparent with residents.
“The whole town is in a total chaos because decisions have not been made, bills have not been paid,” Veal said.
